This Week's Achievers - 17/10/2025
This week we were very lucky to have a visit from the author Naomi Barley. She shared her book, The Zig Zags, with us then we all had the opportunity to make some aliens!
In Art this week we used pieces of fruit as our subjects for some observational sketching.

This afternoon we were very lucky to be invited across to Thorp Academy to take part in a fantastic sports festival. All of the activities were designed to be accessible to everyone, of all abilities. We had so much fun!
We had a wonderful trip to Crawcrook Library this morning. We had Halloween themed stories, a Halloween quiz trail and we had time to look at some of the lovely books they have down there - all free to borrow with a library card! We are so lucky to have this fantastic resource on our doorstep.

In History today we used clues to find out what happened during the Great Fire of London and the order in which it happened. We had fun creating a huge visual timeline.

Our Science topic this half-term is Materials and we have been looking at their properties. We conducted two investigations to test the absorbency of 6 different materials and the elasticity of 6 different materials.

In Maths we have been partitioning two-digit numbers in different ways using base ten apparatus.

In Art we have been using different drawing materials. We used oil pastels, wax crayons, charcoal and pencils to explore drawing techniques.
In English we are reading The Wolf's Story. Before hearing the Wolf's version, we reminded ourselves of the original story of Little Red Riding Hood. We used drama and puppets to do this.
In Maths we have been working on place value and representing two-digit numbers with different apparatus.
