| 15 January 2026 | Closing date for submitting applications |
| 17 April 2026 | Offer letters and emails sent to parents |
| 19 May 2026 | Parents must accept places by this date |
| June/July 2026 | Appeals heard |
Secondary Admissions Timeline
| 8 September 2025 | Online system opens for parents to apply |
| 31 October 2025 | Closing date for submitting applications |
| 23 February 2026 | The Local Authority notifies all secondary schools of the pupils to be allocated places at their school |
| 2 March 2026 | Email and letters sent to Gateshead parents informing them of the outcome of their application. |
Admission age ranges for September 2026
| If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 | Your child is due to start reception class in September 2026. You can apply online for a school place from 9 September 2024 until 15 January 2025. |
| If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 | If your child attends an infant school, they are due to start Junior school in September 2026. You can apply online for a junior school place from 8 September 2025 until 15 January 2026. |
