Doctors and Nurses 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️🩺🩻🥼

Reception welcomed some very special guests into our classroom this week, helping us to learn about life as doctors and nurses in a hospital.
The children were so inspired that they decided they all wanted to become doctors and nurses that help to make people feel better.

P.E Games

This week in P.E Reception were challenged to work in two teams whilst playing a game of 'dishes and domes'. The children showed great teamwork and even better sportsmanship when celebrating everyone's effort and achievement's!

Forest school adventures🌳🍃

This week's adventure took us on a bird hunt through the forest. Reception discussed what birds are, and what makes them unique. Whilst exploring, Reception were set a challenge to create their very own bird feeders. We hope the birds enjoyed them 🦉🐦‍⬛🐦

People who help us 👩‍⚕️👮🧑‍🍼🧑‍🔧👷‍♂️👩‍🚒👨‍🔬👩‍🏫

Reception has been reading "A superhero like you" by Dr Ranj. As a class we came up with a mind map of all the people who help us. We had dentists, doctors, nurses, police officers, teachers, bin men, carers, opticians and many more. We are so lucky to have so many people out there looking after us.

Let's get creative... 🎨🖌️

In art, we have been learning all about artist Paul Klee. After learning some facts about his life, Reception enjoyed spotting the shapes they could see in Paul Klee's painting 'Castle and Sun'. To show off their creativity, reception were tasked with re-creating their own version of his famous work. The results are fantastic 🎨🖌️

Exploring shapes in Maths ⚪️🔺

Reception RS has been interested in learning about how shapes can be used to create images/pictures. We worked together to create a beautiful flower using circles and triangles to represent the petals, stem and leaves. The children applied mathematical language with confidence when describing the shapes they chose to use. I wonder what we could make next time...?

Story time 📚📖

The new year is all about sharing amazing stories with friends or just taking a moment to enjoy some peace and quiet with your favourite book. Reception R/S are currently enjoying "Shhhh I'm Reading" by John Kelly📖.

Ice adventures 🧊

Reception have been enjoying our outdoor environment, exploring how ice changes state and can be moulded by tools and melted using warm water.

A special delivery 📦🎄

Reception had a very special visitor in school this week. A post lady came to visit the children as she had heard they were working very hard. She delivered a package and inside was a very special letter from the Jolly Postman himself 📮✉️

The stars of the show 🎭🎄🌟

Reception RS performed "The Wriggly Nativity" to all of their family and friends. Every child shone on stage and had Miss Surtees and all EYFS staff bursting with pride. They are all stars in the making. Well done Reception 🎭🌟
