W/B 9/3/26 Bumblebee Group
This week in nursery we have been learning about growing, we have planted cress seeds, investigated flowers in the water, in playdough and on the craft table. We have looked at changes in the nursery garden investigating the daffodils growing. We have made Mothers Day cards and chatted about who we love and why! We hope you have a fantastic Mothers Day and look forward to seeing everyone next week.

We have planted Cress seeds this week, we know we need to water them and keep them warm for them to grow. We looked outside at the flowers and buds starting to grow in the garden and we printed with flowers too.
We have shared the story 'Why I love my Mammy' and told our friends why we love our Mammy.

A busy week sharing the story of Jack and The Beanstalk,we all loved .....the Giant!
We made our own Beanstalks and painted magic beans.
Then to end the week we celebrated World Book Day!
Bumblebees
What a fantastic first week back the Bumblebees have had! We have been learning about Jack and the Beanstalk and the children loved the story especially hearing about the giant! Lots of activities have been linked in we have made beanstalks, planted magic beans on the sensory tuff spot, foam with bricks, making holes in leaves with the hole punches, water play washing the cows and much more...... we have also celebrated World Book Day on Friday. Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week.

We have celebrated Pancake Day and Chinese New Year this week. Lots of food tasting and sensory activities in the tuff spots for us to explore as well as our usual Butterfly Group fun! Happy Half Term Everyone.

This week we have had a week of celebrations based around - Shrove Tuesday and Chinese New Year. We have enjoyed lots of table top activities, physical activities, sensory tuff spots and food tasting all linked in to the celebrations. We all hope you have a fantastic half term.

Lots of imaginary play with the Fire Engines and Fire stations this week . We celebrating Valentine's Day by making Love bugs with play dough, Valentine cards, decorating biscuits and talking about who we love as well as painting, building, singing songs and developing friendships!

Bumblebees
This week we have been looking at Fire engines, playing with small world fire stations, fireman figures and lots of fire engines. We have made fire engine pictures, washed the fire engines, used spray bottles and lots more fire related activities. We had a visit from Gateshead Council with a new gritter called the Gritch, which was very big. We have also celebrated Valentine's Day, made valentine cards and decorated valentine biscuits. Another fantastic fun packed week.

Butterfly Group
We have been to Dragon School this week, we had lots of fun learning to fly, breathing fire and roaring really loudly! We enjoyed lots of stories about Dragons especially Zog! We made star medals just like Zog got and we made our very own firebreathing Dragons!

Bumblebees.
It's been all about castles and dragons this week. Bumblebees have had lots of fun learning about Zog and joining him at dragon school. We have been practising flying and breathing fire. Bumblebees have made our very own fire breathing dragon and painted our gold stars for being excellent students. We have also enjoyed playing with castles, knights and dragons with our small world resources and enjoyed using our Dr resources like Princess Pearl.

Butterfly Group have read stories about Fire engines and Fire this week, with lots of red, yellow and orange colours used in painting, play dough and tuff trays( rice/pasta). We have LOVED playing in our role play hospital and pretending to be Doctors and nurses.

This week Bumblebees have been learning about fire! We have used lots of orange, red and yellow to make fire pictures with paint, playdough fires, birthday cakes with candles, spraying water on the fire painted on the tuff spot and chalked on the ground. Using the magnets with rice and fire coloured pipe cleaners. We have also had lots of role play with the Dr surgery which is set up in the home corner. Another very busy week!

It's all about Elephants in Butterfly Group this week.We shared stories about Elmer the Elephant and talked about all the his patchwork colours. We even made our very own Elmer. We worked together using feathers, paint and shiny paper to decorate him!

The Bumblebees have been very busy this week learning about Elmer the elephant. We read the book Elmer the elephant. Then they made a large scale elephant collage using different mixed media. We explored lots of different sensory resources with an Elmer/colour theme. We did a lot of colour sorting, exploring, playing and had lots of fun.

Butterfly Group have shared stories about Arctic animals. We painted our own Polar Bears! We painted on ice and got very messy with the paint! On Friday it was frosty so we went out into our garden and did lots of mark marking in the frost.

This week in Bumblebees we have been looking at books about Arctic animals. We have made pictures of polar bears, explored ice - melting with warm water in spray bottles, using tools to break the ice and painting the ice. We have enjoyed lots of mark making, dressing dolls, construction both small scale and with the large blocks outside.

Welcome to all of our Bumble Bees. This week we have been learning about Winter. We have read books about snowy animals, winter stories, dressed dolls to keep them warm and talked about how to keep ourselves warm.

Christmas party, Christmas Jumper Day, Christmas stories and lots of festive fun in Butterfly Group!

Sticks, sticks and more sticks! Stick Man!
We all found a stick on Nursery Hill, some found long sticks, some found short sticks.we took them indoors and we did lots of mark making with them.
We practised our cutting skills by making Stickman and giving him some hair!
Lots of outdoor fun and building up friendships with our Butterfly friends.

We have been developing our fine motor skills by making a nest for an owl. We used glue to stick strips of paper onto our paper, then practised using scissors to cut out an owl! We shared lots of stories about Owls, their habitat and what they like to eat. We even made chocolate nests on Friday.

Its all about The Gruffalo this week, we looked for him in our garden, we moved like the Gruffalo's friends, we enjoyed the story so much we were able to retell parts of the story in our play!
Painting poppies, CIN Day, lots of building, more water play and building up friendships!
WB 3/11/25 Welcome back after half term. Firework pictures, hula hoops, playing in the leaves and lots more fun in Butterfly group!
We have been on a Bear Hunt. We made Bear faces then we walked through swishy grass, squelchy mud, a cold river, a snowstorm, a dark forest and found lots of Bears on Nursery hill! What an adventure!
Autism Awareness/Acceptance Day.

Our story this week was 'We're going on a pumpkin hunt'. We sat on Nursery hill to listen to the story then we went in search of pumpkins! We found 5! We counted them and then put them in order of size.
Mrs Borrowdale cut the top off the biggest orange pumpkin and we all looked inside! We thought it looked like orange spiderwebs! The inside of the pumpkin felt soft and gooey!
We made biscuits this week!
We weighed, mixed, poured,rolled, flatten and cut out the dough, then baked them in the oven. We are such good bakers!

All things Autumn colours this week. We went on a leaf hunt and found lots of different coloured leaves, we listened to the story Leaf Man and then made our very own Leaf Man! We read the book 'That's not my Hedgehog ' and made spikey hedgehogs with play dough. We even made Leaf soup in the mud kitchen, as well as spray painted, climbed, sorted,filled containers and shared books this week in Butterfly Group.

We enjoyed the story 'The dark,dark night' about Ned the Hedgehog looking for a home and he found a place to sleep in a big pile of leaves.We have painted, explored and used our imagination this week in Butterfly group.

We have talked about how we can look after ourselves this week. We have practised washing and drying our hands before snack, brushing the dinosaurs teeth, bathing the dolls to make them lovely and clean aswell as having our usual Butterfly fun with our friends!

We have continued to think about 'Ourselves' and our senses this week. We have tasted and smelled the toast, used our eyes to find lots of things in our garden, touched rough tree bark, cold sand and soft flowers and listened to the aeroplanes and our friends chatting!. We learnt a song about our five senses called 'I use my eyes to see'. I wonder how many Butterflies can remember it and sing it for you?
This week we have enjoyed playing in our Home Corner feeding the Teddies, making playdough faces and building with blocks and magnetic tiles. We have continues to name colours and talk about 'Ourselves', naming our facial features and singing 'Head ,Shoulders, Knees and toes' at snack time.
We have welcomed new friends into our Butterfly Group after the summer break. We are all settling into our routine well. This week we have looked at the Zones of Regulation, learnt a new 'Days of the week' song and practised naming our colours (which we are very good at too!).
