Governance and Finance

Welcome to our Governors’ section

Our Governors are appointed for a 4 yearly term by the Board of Governors, the Local Authority or elected by staff and parents.

Our Full Governing Body meet at least once each term and more often if there is a specific matter to discuss and agree.

We have several sub committee's with delegate responsibility from the Full Governing Body.

As stated in the DfE’s Governance Handbook, the responsibilities of the governing body are:

Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent”

Diversity Data

The diversity of our Board of Governors was reviewed in July 2023 and we are satisfied that it reflects the community we serve in and around Ryton. Due to the small number of Governors involved we will not be publishing data around protected characteristics to maintain confidentiality.
